Our Client :
A machinery spares distributor was required to transition from brick & mortar to a closed-loop Business-to-Business (B2B) order and fulfilment system. As they grappled with moving from clipboards to keyboards, they wanted a logistics provider flexible enough to manage their stocks and orders during and after their transition with minimal disruption.
The client was also facing supply chain disruptions due to a lack of visibility of their stock levels to the purchasing team who were on high-stress levels trying to import stock at the last minute.
What we did:
- Migrated the client’s machinery spare parts into Alien Logistics’ ecommerce warehouse and fulfilment centre
- Manually fulfilled orders received via email from the client in the initial phase while awaiting system synchronisation
- Worked with the client to automate order flow-through from the client’s Order Management Module (OMM) of their closed-loop purchasing system to our WMS (Warehouse Management System).
- Consulted with the client on the import customs procedures for their spares and advised on the planning of the stock imports in order to mitigate Out of Stock (OOS) situations.
Results:
The flexibility of enabling a manual fulfilment process while the system onboarding was taking place enabled the client a longer learning curve with lower stress levels while maintaining service levels to their clients. While the half-yearly stock audits are still done manually, our online WMS reporting system enables the client to download stock reports as and when required, giving them the best of both worlds.
Subsequently, Alien Logistics is now managing the entire supply chain, working with the various teams to coordinate the importing of stocks directly into our warehouse to local fulfilment and last-mile deliveries.
